What does the timing on a 1996 Nissan Sentra?
Does 1996 Nissan Sentra GXE use a timing belt or a timing chain How long can it normally last in miles?
You don't. 89 sentra does not have a timing belt, instead it has timing chain. I have the 1989 Nissan Sentra 1.6L 4-dr sedan. My timing chain needs to be replaced. It runs inside the motor. It is a big task for an auto mechanic to replace it. It will cost me at a *trustworthy* business $470 for part(s) and labor to replace it. Expect it to take a whole day for the car to…
Does the 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V use a timing belt or chain and around how much does it cost to replace?
I was told that timing belts should be replaced every 60,000 miles. However, when I called the local Nissan dealer for my 2003 Sentra, they told me it does not ever need to be replaced. Then I read somewhere that apparently Nissan guarantees the timing belt/chain to last the life time of the engine. I also read that 2003 Sentra has a timing chain, not a belt.
For longer life with less maintenance, the Sentra engine uses a timing chain instead of a cheaper, but quieter, timing belt. You don't notice the extra noise generated by the timing chain.
