In Hebrew it means beautiful; pleasurable. See Proverbs 29:17 for a word with the same root.

I'm not really sure what you mean by this but.... 1. It is called Earth. That is what it's called. It just is. 2. If you mean by "Eden", a ideal, perfect world (Biblical), Earth cannot be called that because it is too flawed.
According to the biblical account, Adam was created in the Garden of Eden.
