The term C.E. means the "common era." This refers to years counting forward from the birth of Jesus. Some use the term "A.D." which is Latin for Anno Domini (Year of the Lord)

The years prior to his birth may be called B.C.E. or "before the common era." We live in the year 2007 C.E.

So, the year 30 C.E. would be the same that some would call 30 A.D. It is the 30th year after the birth of Jesus.

ANOTHER VIEW

Some believe there is no proof Jesus ever was the Son of God. The more common reference A.D., B.C. has until in recent years been the standard. In an effort to promote non-theological references, non believers and neutralists advocate the use of C.E./B.C.E.

...funny that the time is still based on Christ's life, just labeled on the surface as if it isn't...
