This is called "sharing". Because of the use of this word in social media contexts (as well as in some religions), some people may be surprised to find that the concept of sharing involves not only giving to others but also giving up a corresponding part of what you have.

It would mean that they are too kind for their own good. They give freely and take nothing in return, but this is damaging to themselves and others.
You add up all the numbers that they give you. It makes no differenceif some of the numbers happen to be equal to others.
