If you watch Halloween Laurie rips his mask of right near the end of the film, in Halloween 5 at the beginning in the hermits shack you see him briefly from a distance and later on in the film he takes his mask off but stays in the shadows.

The part where Laurie pulls his mask off in the original Halloween (1978) is at approximately 1:30:30 (one hour, thirty minutes, and thirty seconds) into the movie. He looks sort of normal, but with big, bulging, staring eyes, really big lips and crooked teeth, which makes him look goonish and sort of like a gorilla. The mask of Michael Myers was an altered version of a William Shatner mask. The William Shatner mask was altered by cutting out the eyes of the mask, painted the mask white, forcing the hair upwards, and removing the eyebrows and sideburns

Nobody really knows...its supposed to be a mystery. You see him as a little kid in the beginning of Halloween 1 (the original). And very briefly when he's grown-up towards the end of Halloween 4 (or maybe 5 cant exactly remember) when him and his neice are in the attic & she asks him to take off his mask. He looked quite normal. :)
