In a bowl of water use a diamond tip drill and cover the stone with water.
you need to use the drill with very little pressure and drill half way then drill from other side to keep from breaking out the sufface of the hole.
The drill RPM needs to be at least 10,000 - 15,000 RPM.
You need a masonry drill, with a carbide tip, and you should also secure this 'small rock' properly while drilling it.
Diamond is harder than any other mineral. A diamond bit can drill through any rock.
Drill a hole in the rock until you get to the oil. Insert a steel pipe into the hole, and pump the oil up from the bottom of the hole.
an oil drill? Oil drilling commences with the insertion of a hole that is 5 to 36 inches in diameter. This hole is made with a piece of equipment called a drilling rig, and a drilling string is attached to the rig. After the hole is created, a section of tubing, made out of steel, is inserted in the hole. At this point, a drill bit, which can either compress the rock or just cut threw it, moves through the rock. Fluid is used both to help wear down the rock and to such up bits of rock that have laready been sheared from the surface. =P

The time it takes to drill a hole depends on the material being drilled, the size of the hole and the machine doing the drilling. But you knew that. It takes longer to chuck a bit in a drill than to actually punch an eighth inch hole through a piece of quarter inch plywood. But drilling a one inch hole through a twelve by twelve framing timber takes longer. Particularly if you're using a brace and bit. Are you drilling a four inch hole through a twelve inch thick slab of reinforced concrete? Roll up your sleeves and make sure you have a good water supply to lubricate and cool the diamond coring bit on your rig. Planning on punching a thirty inch hole through a thousand feet of mixed earth and rock to mount an emergency rescue effort of some trapped miners? Order out for some lunches. You and your crew will at this one for a while.
in china we called internal combustion rock drill YN27 YN27C,it can rock drill and breaker concrete
Depends on the type of mine. For surface mining, we use a track drill. This is a mobile piece of equipment, mounted on tracks. A "top hole" drill uses drill steel (hardened steel rods) that are hammered into the rock, and rotate, crushing rock to powder, which is blown out by water or compressed air. Some drills use rotating bits that grind their way through the rock. Underground mining may use a "Jumbo", which has several drill bits mounted on one machine, or a "jack leg" drill- a hydraulic jack braces the drill against to roof and floor, and hammers a bit into the rock. In a few special mines, a thermal lance is used to burn holes into the rock. PS- good drilling= good blasting= good mining.
To break rocks using powder, use gunpowder. Drill a hole in the rock, add powder, set fire to it and the resulting explosion will break the rock.
The giant drill used to tunnel through mountains is called a tunnel boring machine, or sometimes just a boring machine. These machines can cut through both soil and rock.
