Mangrove crabs feed on phytoplankton as well as zooplankton. Their real name is Scylla serrata and they are often called mud crabs in addition to mangrove crabs.

When mud crabs are in the larvae stage, they are consumed by small fish. As adults, mud crabs are preyed on by large fish, turtles, and rays. Other animals that prey on mud crabs are crocodiles and sharks.
