To become a TECHNOLOGIST, and not just a medical technician, you need a minimum of a bachelor's degree. Some schools offer a degree in 'medical technology", other schools call it something different. The university where I am studying calls it a "medical science laboratory" degree.
Technicians only need an AS degree, or sometimes on the job training is available depending on the lab.
