In crossing over the chomosomal segments of the homologous chromosomes get interchanged. Thus the genetic configuration of recessive and dominant genes gets altered and new gene combinations are formed which ultimately leads to the variation in the offsprings.
Crossing over is another way for genes to be "mixed".
If you cross your legs then you vary the position you sit in. duuuh.

Crossing Over.
The two sources of genetic variation in a cell during Meiosis are crossing-over during synapse and independent assortment.
The cause of variation are firstly genetic itself, 2nd) crossing over, 3rdly) indipendent assortment
Increasing variation
No
acts as a source of variation in spiecies.
It increases genetic variation in organisms
Crossing-over
There is variation among humans because of sexual reproduction, crossing over, assortment, and mutations.
It is caused by crossing over in sexual reproduction and random mutations in DNA.
Random assortment & crossing-over
There would be less genetic variation in humans
Crossing over creates a genetic recombination of the DNA.
Crossing over can effect on more then one gene i.e. at least two as in crossing over the genes of homologus chromatin get interchanged so it effect at least two genes and can effect or change more then two genes depend upon the linking and crossing over capability
