Iodine is a solid at atmospheric pressure and has a high enough vapor pressure at room temperature that it will tend to sublime if left exposed to the atmosphere long enough. If stored in an airtight container it will remain solid but the air above it will eventually become saturated with iodine vapor, taking on a violet tint. Note that the sublimation pressure at room temperature is substantially below atmospheric pressure (less than 10 Pa, i.e. less than 1 ten thousandth of an atmosphere) so although it will sublime at room temperature it does so gradually
All elements undergo sublimation given a low enough pressure and a high enough temperature. However, at room temperature:
Iodine undergoes sublimation, Naphthalene (in mothballs) and dry ice does as well.
Arsenic undergoes sublimation at a higher temperature.
The process is called sublimation. The molecules and elements that undergo this process are C02, naphtalene and iodine.
Zinc and cadmium will both sublime at low pressures. Many different compounds such as CO2 will also sublime.
I suppose that the classic answer is iodine; but it is not correct !
