Covalent bonds share electrons. Neither atom actually gives up or takes electrons. They position themselves in such a way so that valence electrons are utilized by each of the atoms forming the bond. Examples of molecules which bond covalently are Water (H2O), Nitrogen (N2), and Oxygen (O2)

Ionic bonds are those in which one electron with a low valence number donates its electrons to an atom with a higher valence number, thus forming positive and negative ions, respectively, which are then attracted to one another. (Opposite charges attract.) Table salt (NaCl) is an example of an ionic bond.

If the elements of the periodic table were sequenced by density from smallest to largest what would they have in common Would they have similar chemical and physical properties?

Each chemical element has specific chemical and physical properties.

What do elements ina column on the periodic table usually have in common?

Chemicals in a column, or "group" have similar chemical properties.

How do you find the most similar elements in the periodic table?

In the periodic table, the elements are grouped according to their properties. Elements in a group has an equal number of valence electrons. So the elements in a group have most common chemical properties.

What on periodic table groups have in common?

The groups have equal number of valence electrons. The elements in same groups have same chemical properties.

Why do elements in the same column int the periodic table have in common?

Elements in same column have equal number of valence electrons. so they possess similar chemical properties.

What do elements in the same column (group) of the Periodic Table have in common?

Elements in a group have the same number of valence electrons and hence they have similar chemical and physical properties.

Elements in a periodic table in common?

The periodic table contain all chemical elements, placed in a rational order.

Why is important to organize the elements in a periodic table?

It is helpful to organize things by characteristics because you can tell that certain elements are similar. For example if you knew nothing about the chemical or physical properties of (Rb) Rubidium, you could guess it has properties similar to (Cs) Cesium since they are in the same group. The common "Periodic Table" has many interesting forms. Search: "periodic table"
