A lot of people died due to contact to the temperature of the explosion. Some of the people who lived after the explosion died due to radiation poisoning. The amount of deaths due to the atomic bomb was around 360,000 when we dropped the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. To sum it up, the effects were devestating.
The plutonium used in the first atomic weapon (the Trinity Device) was processed at the Hanford Reservation site in Washington State. The uranium used in the first actual bomb (Little Man, dropped on Hiroshima), was refined at Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
The little boy atomic bomb used on Hiroshima contained Uranium-235. The Fat Man atomic bomb used on Nagasaki contained Plutonium.
