Lime water is more properly known as calcium hydroxide solution. Calcium hydroxide is sparingly soluble in water. It has uses as 'lime wash' or 'water wash'.
It is made from two compounds which are 'quick lime' and water, through the following reaction:
CaO + H2O → Ca(OH)2
Thus it contains Ca(OH)2 and water H2 O.
----------------------------------------------------
Lime water is made of the elements
Calcium (Ca)
Carbon (C)
Hydrogen (H)
and Oxygen (O)
Lime is ambiguous: Lime as fruit is not a compound but Lime as inorganic mineral is Calcium hydroxide, meaning that it is constituted of three elements: calcium hydrogen and oxygen.
Ca(OH)21. Lime is the popular name of calcium hydroxide, Ca(OH)2 or calcium oxide, CaO.
2. Lime is a very sour citrus fruit.
Limes contain salt and very little amount of sugar.
Lime contains the elements calcium and oxygen. It is the compound calcium oxide, CaO.
Quicklime is Calcium Oxide, and therefore is made of Calcium + Oxygen :D
Lime water is a mixture of Ca(OH)2 and water (H2O).
Calcium.
There are TWO(2) elements present in quicklime. They are calcium and oxygen. Chemically it is calcium oxide (CaO).
cloudy
Freshly prepared lime water is used in the evperiment to test the presence of CO2 in water because lime water turns milky when CO2 is present in water.
When limewater goes cloudy it means carbon dioxide is present!
Quick lime is calcium oxide, CaO. Lime water is calcium hydroxide, Ca(OH)2 dissolved in water. Lime water can be made by dissolving quick lime in water.
Lime water is a mixture of Ca(OH)2 and water (H2O).
Two elements--calcium and oxygen--are present in quick lime.
Limewater is calcium hydroxide solution. So the elements present are calcium, oxygen and hydrogen. Ca(OH)2 (aq).
Calcium and oxygen (calcium oxide) are present in quick lime.
hydrogen and oxygen
add lime water to the air if the lime water turns cloudy then carbon dioxide is present
lime water
cloudy
Freshly prepared lime water is used in the evperiment to test the presence of CO2 in water because lime water turns milky when CO2 is present in water.
It is to test for the presence of carbon dioxide. If carbon dioxide is present,it will turn chalky however if carbon dioxide is absent, lime water will remain colourless.
Lime is a compound.
Calcium and oxygen (calcium oxide) are present in quick lime.
