This was reffered to at the time of production to the different level of finish of the model 30 shotgun.The model 30 could be had in various levels of finish and engraving from grade A-thru grade D,with each level being more fancy as far as the grade of wood,and engraving of the metal.I believe the level G stood for the field grade model.
The BAR Grade 1 Magnum is worth $600-800, depending on condition. Other grades of the same rifle sell for more (different finish, engraving) Excellent rifles.

I own a Grade 1 MK-70 Miroku, my friend has the Grade 5 The engraving is the most obvious difference, followed by the quality of the wood stock, The grade 5 engraving covers all of the metal body, including the underside, where the two squares open inwards when you open the barrels, these two little squares have no engraving at all on my Grade 1, yet are beautifully deeply engraved on the grade 5 I don't think a grade 2,3 or 4 are available from Miroku, its a grade 1 or a grade 5 only

The standard Grade IV Bar was discontinued in 1989 as a annual model in the lineup. Then they started again with special orders through the custom Gun Shop in Herstal and are still available. The Grade IV has never been machine stamped engraving.
