An AC permanent magnet synchronous motor designed to be operated by a specific type of variable frequency drive. "DC brushless" motors have integral to them a speed and position feedback device, normally an encoder, that is part of the motor/drive system. Generally they are designed for very low inertia and high dynamic response, and are also designed for operation at high load over a wide speed range.

What are the benefits to using a brushless dc motor drive?

There are many benefits to using a brushless dc motor drive. For instance, they utilize electronic systems rather than manual ones, and their torque current and frequency of speed relationships are linear.

Is it possible to run a DC brushless motor without an electronic driver?

No. In a "regular" DC motor, the permanent magnets form the stator, and the brushes and commutator are used to get the DC to the rotor windings. In a brushless DC motor, the magnet is the rotor, and the stator is a group of coils arranged in a circle to form the stator. The electronic controller drives the individual coils in the stator. There isn't a good way to drive them without an electronic controller. A link is provided to the Wikipedia article on the brushless DC motor (BLDC). At least surf on over and check out the pics. The ones showing motors that have been taken apart are particularly helpful.

What is meant by bressless DC motor?

I've not heard the term "bressless" - I think you mean "Brushless" - which is a DC Motor that does not use the usual commutator/brush arrangement. For a great answer to this question, see the Wikipedia article in the related links section.

what are a few of the disadvantages to a brush-less motor controller?

The brush-less motor controller has a smaller output current than one DC motor. The brushless also has less of a output voltage. The maximum output voltage is 50V, where a regular DC motor would have a maximum of atleast 60V.

Are Brushed and Brushless DC motors both Reversible?

No

How does a DC brushless motor work?

To state it simply, a DC brushless motor is not a DC motor. It is an AC motor with an inverter (or electronic commutator) on the front end to make the AC, so you can use a DC input.

Which store sells a Brushless DC motor?

Many stores sell the Brushless DC motor. Among them are Robot Shop, Maxon Motor, and Ted Motors. It would be expected that other mechanically oriented stores would sell Brushless DC motors too.

Who makes a brushless DC motor?

The Brushless DC Electric Motor, also know as Electronically Commutated Motors, are made by the MICROMO Engineering Company, who are located in Clearwater, Florida.

Are DVD DC motors and DC motors same?

actually dc motors are of several types in which one of them are 1).brushed 2).brushless ...so the motor present in DVD are the brushless dc motors ...

Can I use an encoder to build a brushless dc motor controller for a quadcopter instead of using the ready made ESCs?

Yes, you can use an encoder other than the ready made ESCs to build a brushless DC motor controlled for a quadcopter.

What is the type of motor used in hard disk drive?

stepper motor No. it is not a stepper. It is a Brushless DC (BLDC) motor. See related link for more information on this motor.

What is principle of stepper motor?

A stepper motor is a brushless DC electric motor that divides a full rotation into a number of equal steps. It moves one step at a time.

How do you build a brushless DC motor?

Just building a brushless DC motor out of house hold things isn't very practical. Although you could build one from scratch with the proper materials bought from a store, I would suggest just buying one already assembled. It will cost about 5-40$ depending on what you get.

Do Brushless motor controllers have good reviews?

The reviews of brushless motor controllers are pretty good. However, the brand and type can really vary, so do your research before you buy a brushless motor controller.

What is the operating voltage of a brushless DC motor?

the voltage on the name platethere is no dc involved unless the motor is stoppedits a magnet on a shaft with electro magnets around itthis is called a synchronous motor when run with acor a stepper motor with pulsed dcor a brake with dcComment.Look at the motor's Name Plate.
