Best Answer

When the moon is between the earth and the sun, blocking the sun's light (from the perspective of earth).

A lunar eclipse is when the earth blocks light from getting to the moon, and can cause the moon to temporarily change color because of the effect on earth's atmosphere on the light that does get to it.

A solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the earth and the sun and the moon covers the sun as viewed from a certain location.

add. Rather fortuitously, both have the same angular diameter as seen from Earth.

How often do the Lunar Eclipse and Solar Elipse happen?

During the 100 years of the 20th Century, there were 228 solar eclipses and 229 lunar ones. So over the long term, you can figure on equal numbers, at the rate of around 7 of each every 3 years.

How does a solar elipse work?

Solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, and Moon covers the Sun, thus obscuring it's rays, as viewed from the Earth. Actually, total solar eclipses (when the sun is completely obscured by the moon) are rare, but up to 5 partial eclipses of the Sun happen each year.

What is the eccentricity of orbit in earth days?

The eccentricity of an orbit is not measured in days. The excentricity is a numeric value between 0 (for a perfect circle) to 1 (for an extremely prolonged elipse). The eccentricity of an orbit is not measured in days. What is the definitions of elliptical orbit?

It means the planet (for example) goes around the Sun (for example) in an orbit that has the shape of an elipse. Informally, an elipse can be described as a stretched circle. The planet is sometimes closer to the Sun, sometimes it is farther away.It means the planet (for example) goes around the Sun (for example) in an orbit that has the shape of an elipse.
