There was a total of 8 residents in the secret annex. Anne Frank and her family (Otto Frank, Edith Frank-Hollander, Margot Frank) moved into the annex on 6 July 1942 after Margot got a call-up from Central Office for Jewish Emigration ordering her to report for relocation to a work camp. The van Pels and their son joined them a week later on 13 July 1942. The last member of the annex joined them in November 1942, his name was Fritz Pfeffer. The Frank lived there for 2 years and a month before they were discovered on 4 August 1944 by a German Police following the tip of an unknown informer.
