oooh cocoa butter lotion will float on water but it will sink in oil... try it.. i dont know if every lotion works though..
Probably anything; the density of the olive oil is greater than the density of water.
Hey,
I was wondering the same thing for a science demonstration. Eventually I used a quarter ($0.25) wrapped in tinfoil. The key was the amount of compacted tinfoil. For me, it worked out to be about the size of a large thumb of compacted tinfoil wrapped tightly around the twenty-five cent piece. You will have to use a trial and error method to find what works for you. Elastic band. Most plastic pony beads float on water & sink in oil (I used mineral oil.) You should test one in water first to see if it's the right density - some plastics are denser than others.
so does poop =) this is a different person------the top is someone else
In order for something to float in vegetable oil, its density must be lower than the density of the vegetable oil. The density of vegetable oil varies, but is usually around 910g/liter, while water has a density of 1000g/liter. Any object with less than 910g/liter, or 0.91g/cm^3 will float in the vegetable oil.
Only a material with a density lesser than the density of this oil can float.
Almost anything if it's built properly.
Pencil Water
yes
Vegetable oil is denser then water, so it floats on top. Oil is also a lipid, which is hydrophobic, meaning it does not like water. They do not mix.
Vegetable oil floats on water because it is less dense than water. Density is the mass of a substance divided by its volume. Since the mass of vegetable oil is less than the same volume of water, it displaces less water and floats on top.

Density does not depend on the volume - so the answer is the same for 1 tablespoon or 1 gallon. Since there is a great deal of variability in vegetable oils, an exact answer is not possible. However, most would be in the 0.91 - 0.93 g/mL range. This is slightly less than water, which is why vegetable oil floats on top. If you need to determine the exact density - measure out a specific volume and determine the mass using a balance. The mass divided by the volume is the density.
the liquid that floats on canola oil is thing that is denser than it
Oil floats on water because water is denser than oil.
Vegetable oil
Vegetable oil can be made out of several different plants, including soybean, peanuts, canola, and sunflower. So while all sunflower oil is vegetable oil, not all vegetable oil is sunflower oil.
Soybeans, vegetable oil,Soybeans, vegetable oil,
what enzyme digests vegetable oil
vegetable oil, is a compound because it forms a liquid.
Ammonia dissolves better in motor oil than in vegetable oil because motor oil is more immiscible than vegetable oil. Also, motor oil molecules are more non-polar than vegetable oil.
