Frequency of electromagnetic radiation = (speed of light) / (wavelength) Speed of light in vacuum = 300,000,000 meters/sec (rounded) Frequency = (300,000,000 meters/sec) / (5 x 10-6 cm) = (3 x 108 m/s) / (5 x 10-8 m) = 0.6 x 1016 = 6 x 1015 Hz.

The wavelength associated with EM (electromagnetic) radiation of 5 teraHz is 0.059958 mm. That's a pretty high frequency, and it results in a very short wavelength. Higher frequency, shorter wavelength.

The formula for EM radiation, which nominally travels at the speed of light is λ = c/f :

wavelength in m = speed of light in m/sec / frequency in cycles/sec
