The geographical factors included improved transport, production and resources.

Many of the wide rivers did not contain obstacles so for better ways of getting around they built canals which improved transport.

The wet climate was good enough for cotton production due to its damp conditions.

Resources such as coal and fuel, powered steam engines and helped run machines.

These were the main geographical factors that contributed to the Industrial Revolution in the beginning and improved throughout the years.

The chief factors that allowed industrialization to begin in Britain were that British wages were high and that coal was cheap in Britain. This made it economic to substitute machines powered by water and especially by steam for manual labour in parts of Britain while that ws still uneconomic in other countries. It also helped that simple wooden and iron fabrications were cheap in Britain.

For details, see Robert C. Allen "The British Indusrial Revolution in Global Perspective", ISBN-10-0521687853 .

The Marxist view, that the enclosure of common fields drove unemployed labour ears into the cities where they provided cheap labour for industry, is discredited by the facts that wages in British cities were actuallyt higher than wages in other countries at the beginning of the industrial revolution and that industrialization began before the enclosures did. If that explanation were correct, the Industrial Revolution would have begun in Poland, which had the lowest wages in Europe at the time.

Great Britain's location near the main portion of the European continent provided the raw materials needed for industrialization. England had vast resources in coal for example, however additional European Natural Resources were readily available via shipping. England was blessed with many good trading seaports enabling raw materials to be shipped in and allowing for finished products to be shipped out. The fact of Great Britain's status as an island, also insulated industrial activity from European wars.
