rift valleys or mid-ocean ridges allowing the magma from Earth's mantle to expel onto the crust of the Earth causing new land to form. An example of this is the mid-Atlantic ridge which is a huge contributing factor to the tectonic plate theory that the earth's tectonic plates are constantly moving due to the currents in Earth's mantle and new land forming causing the older land to be pushed away.
