Palm Sunday was the day that Jesus rode into Jersusalem on an donkey with the people acclaiming Him with shouts of Hosanna and strewing palms on the road in front of Him.

On Holy Thursday, He celebrated the Last Supper with his disciples, which was the institution of the Most Holy Eucharist (in other words, the first Mass). Afterward he went out and was arrested.

On Good Friday, he was scrouged (whipped), made to carry the heavy cross while sustaining massive blood loss from the scourging. Then he was nailed to the Crucifix with a nail through each hand (the actual point of entry was through what we now refer to as our wrist) and one nail through both feet. He was buried in a tomb before sunset due to the Jewish Sabbath.

Sometime after dark on Holy Saturday (which according to Jewish way of counting was already Sunday) he rose from the dead = Easter Sunday.

Jesus was cruelly tortured, crucified, stabbed, killed, and buried. For you. So you could live forever. Just let that sink in. Jesus was whipped with an instrument made from long leather straps that burn when your hit with them. But that's not where it ended. The put nails in the ends of them so that when Jesus was whipped, the nails dug in His back and sides, dragging slowly if caught to deep. When the Romans were done, you could see His ribs sticking out. They didn't stop there. Oh no. The made Him carry a cross that was so heavy because it was made to support a full grown man. They forced a crown of thorns onto his forhead that cut into His skin so the blood trickled into His eyes. He carried through Jerusalem and up Skull Hill where that stabbed His hands and feet with 2in. thick nails. There He hung. Till He died of blood loss and exhaustion. After, they stabbed Him. At least they had enough compation to allow His body to be buried. And Jesus let it all happen so that you would live. That YOU would live. He was perfect. He didn't do anything wrong. But He took your penalty. That's what happened on that Friday. But....Sunday was coming...

Why do you celebrate Holy week?

Catholics celebrate Holy Week to remember what happened before Easter, before Christ rose from the dead: the Last Supper, Christ's passion and suffering, and finally his death. They try to remember that, not only is Christ's triumph over death important, but so is his terrible suffering and sacrifice as well.
