What happened to Jon Benet Ramsey?
On the day after Christmas 1996, six year old JonBenet Ramsey was found dead in the basement of the Ramsey's Boulder, Colorado home. What was initially reported as a kidnapping quickly turned into a homicide. JonBenet had been garroted and suffered a skull fracture. Due to a series of mishaps and police bungling, that included a seriously compromised crime scene, the case remains unsolved and open.

TOO LONG. This was in my opinion the indirect cause of death of this tragic young child beauty. Child Labor laws should be brought up to date to prohibit this often cruel prac…tice of having kids in beauty contests. Let kids be kids.
Since there was never an arrest and trial, many of the particulars of this case may never be known. The evidence says the theory of an intruder is not likely. That narrows the… list of suspects considerably. That leads to the Ramseys. There are several scenario's that may fit the facts. Jon Benet may have been killed accidentally by John or Patsy Ramsey, then in a panic staged the crime scene to look like a child abduction. Burke Ramsey has been eliminated for obvious reasons. He was only 9 in December 1996 and did not possess the physical strenth needed to carry out this particular crime. He also lacked a motive. Jon Benet may have screamed or cried out while being molested and was garroted to death to keep her quiet. Statistically speaking, men outnumber women for this type of crime. John Ramsey would not be the first if he was in fact abusing his daughter. Of course this theory cannot exonerate Patsy. Mothers do kill their children, even wealthy upper middle class women like Patsy Ramsey. What is known is, this seemed to be a child molestation gone terribly wrong. Jon Benet had both acute and chronic signs of sexual abuse. The molestation had been happening for some time before she died. The desparate attempt to stage the crime scene, write a rambling ransom note and rehearse a cover story, fairly screams 'amature'. Sinced the murder of Jon Benet, Patsy Ramsey's ovarian cancer returned and has passed away. John Ramsey, relocated to Atlanta and has remarried. Just recently the Boulder DA made the announcement that the Ramsey's had been 'cleared' in the death of their daughter. This statement was based on no new evidence, but what was compiled years ago in the early months after the murder. Reguardless of the DA's statement, the facts and evidence have not changed.
Steve Thomas wrote a book about the Ramsey murder. Thomas was one of the first detectives that arrived at the Ramsey home the morning her 'kidnapping' was reported by Patsy Ra…msey. He remained on the case for 18 months before he resigned his position as a homicide detective.
She was born 1990 and died 1996
If you mean the clothes she was wearing when her body was found (which included PJs and a blanket) they should be with the Boulder Police, kept as evidence, because the Ramsey… case is considered an 'open case'. These will be kept until the case is solved, and the guilty party has been convicted. Any clothes that were not taken for evidence (considered not part of the crime) were kept or disposed of by her parents as they saw fit.

With the murder of their daughter the Ramseys were tried and convicted in the press and public opinion, and rightly so. Their demeaner after the crime was suspicious. Their st…ories were lame and didn't fit the crime scene. But there is no doubt that the Ramseys suffered greatly. Several years after JonBenet's death Patsy succumbed to ovarian cancer. It remains to be seen if the stress of her daughter's death hastened her own death. John Ramsey sold his business and has since remarried and lives in another state with his new wife. JonBenet's older brother Burke is an adult now, leading his own life. I always have the hope that someday Burke Ramsey will tell the real story of what happened in that house in Boulder on Christmas night. I would understand if he did not while his father is still alive. And JonBenet would be an adult now, had she lived. There will probably never be justice for that beautiful little girl.

Sometime during the night of December 25-26, 1996, six year old JonBenet Ramsey disappeared. What first appeared to be a kidnapping turned into a homicide when John Ramsey dis…covered JonBenet's body in a remote room in the basement of the Ramsey's Boulder, CO home. JonBenet had been garroted,* bludgened over the head, and was the victim of acute and chronic sexual abuse. The body had been cleaned to the point where there remained virtually no physical or forensic evidence. There was no sign of a breakin, a ransom note that was highly suspect, odd behavior on the part of the Ramseys, and a thousand and one other details that pointed the finger of guilt at the parents. This case is less a 'whodunnit' than a 'howtoproveit'. Periodically, there will surface 'new' evidence, even a confession, but none that clear the Ramseys in their daughter's death. *The killer used one of Patsy Ramsey's paintbrushes as a garrot, the ransom note was written inside the Ramsey house, with discarded 'practice' sheets found in the Ramsey's trash, and a flashlight on the kitchen counter that was thought to possibly be the instrument used to bash in JonBenet's head. The bottom line being, if there was an intruder/kidnapper they came completely unprepared for the crime, using the Ramseys things already in the home. They would have had to spend a large amount of time in the home where at any moment they could have been discovered. They had imtimate knowledge of the Ramseys home. Most of the Ramsey's closest friends did not know about the small room in the cellar where the body was found. I have never heard of a kidnapping for ransom with absolutely no pre-planning at all. Most kidnappers have the note written, entrance and exit worked out for quick escape, and finally the kidnappers forget to take the victim with them.
tHE CASE IS STILL UNSOLVED. This is sorrowful and sick in itself- we are not dealing with a missing government spy, fully conversant of the risks involved in the trade, or an …MIA soldier, but a child of six. It is KNOWN beyond the shadow of a doubt, she was Raped and Murdered by a Male. I can't help think somebody in the immediate or close ( happened, tragically, over the Christmas Holiday) was somehow responsible for the killing. There doesn't seem to be any logical motive, unless, and this has been only indirectly suggested, the poor girl had developed or acquired some sort of physical handicap that would compromise her stage-model career, such as perhaps visual impairment. A shot in the dark, maybe, but hardly a reason for murder.

In his New York Times bestseller detective Steve Thomas, who investigated the Ramsey case from the beginning, put forth a compelling case, based on the evidence, that Patsy Ra…mset killed JonBenet, most likely accidentally, and then enlisted the help of John and Burke Ramsey to cover up the crime. And although not all the 'i's are dotted' not all questions answered, it is the only scenario that makes any sense at all. Whether it was John or Patsy that killed JonBenet, Thomas could not prove which one, it is still a fact based on the evidence of the case, that one of the parents was responsible for the death of their daughter. This was also the conclusion of the FBI, based on the evidence of the case. It was also the conclusion of well-known forensic pathologist Cyrl Whent, put forth in his bestselling book Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey, who studied in depth both of the autopsy reports and police files on the case. Thomas and the other Boulder detectives involved in the Ramsey case, the FBI agents that assisted the Boulder Police and carried out their own investigation and Dr. Whent, who has assisted on many contraversial cases of crime and especially murder, and based on the evidence of the Ramsey case, have all come to the conclusion that there was no intruder . Furthermore, the Ramsey case was never a gueniune kidnapping. So we have a crime that, based on the physical evidence , has been studied and investigated by seasoned detectives, local and federal, and a competent and experienced forensic pathologist with hundreds if not thousands of autopsies preformed, did not involve kidnapping or even an intruder, and according to the FBI, a coverup by a bumbling or inexperienced person or persons to make the crime look like a kidnapping to disguise the real crime. These are the facts based on the physical evidence and the experienced professionals that were involved in the case from the very beginning. Nobody, including these professional men and women involved in this case, want to believe that a parent can kill their own child. But they also know from experience that parents do kill their children. Even attractive and wealthy parents. Parents that seem like our own parents, that seems like us. It happens every day all over this country, that is also a fact that cannot be ignored. As ugly as it is, it is still a fact and it must be faced. John and/or Patsy Ramsey killed JonBenet. We may never know all the details, the actual why or how as it happened. But if we do not face facts, the reality of this case, then JonBenet will have died in vain. We will have learned nothing, and there will be other JonBenets in the future. That will be a crime in and of itself.//
