He loved Fan and it was she that came to take hime from the boarding school where his father had left him in ovr teh years. It was at Fans continued request that Scrooge was to be allowed homd. He remebered the good times and also the time when Fred was born and sadly Fan died in childbirth and his word given to care for the boy
