He claimed Cassandra of Troy as his prize. He traveled home where Clymnestra, his wife, and her lover Aegisthus murdered him. Clymnestra pretended to be happy that he was home and after he took a bath, she gave him a shirt that had no hole for the head and arms to put on. While he was struggling with it, Aegisthus came in with an axe and killed him. Clymnestra is said to also murdered Cassandra because of Jealousy. Many versions also said that Cassandra predicted that this would happen but no one believed her. In some other versions, Clymnestra also killed the twins that Cassandra and Agamemnon supposedly had together.
