After being retired from service it was stripped of most of its interior furnishings, valuable metals, and hazardous materials such as asbestos.

As of 2016 the ship is moored at the Port of Philadelphia in the US, but there is no firm plan to rescue the ship, either to return it to active passenger service or to repurpose it.
