This is a warm front. They occur when a warmer air masses tries to push into a cooler, drier air mass. It has to ride up and over the cooler air, "squeezing" it out rather than wedging it upward from below. Precipitation along this boundary is usually much gentler than that along a cold front, but can last much longer. Rather than the clear, crisp air that follows a cold front, hazy or muggy conditions can follow a warm front.
