In general, first you will get to speak to the prosecutor to see if you can or wish to enter into a plea bargain and plead guilty to a lesser offense. Many traffic offense are disposed of this way. If you were charged with going 50 miles over the speed limit, you might be able to downgrade the charge to speeding only 25 miles over the limit. If you were charged with reckless driving, you may be able to plead guilty to careless driving. Reductions in the seriousness of the offense will result in a lower fine and fewer points charged to your driving record.

If you cannot come to an agreement, you will proceed to trial on the offense. If you have witnesses to support your defense, be sure to bring them with you to court. If the court proceeds to trial on that day, you might not be allowed an adjournment in order to bring them in on some other day. Letters from witnesses will not be accepted as evidence at a trial.

If you get stopped by the police and they find you have an outstanding traffic warrant they could arrest you.

You should go to the court and pay the fines to clear up the warrant.

Added: Some additional food for thought - if the warrant is for an un-answered traffic charge the DMV could (and probably will) suspend your drivers license until the matter is taken care of.

I wouldn't take a chance. You are given a date in which you must complete traffic school before that date. If worst comes to worst (This happened to me) and you procrasinate, you could ask for an extention. This will give you another week or two. If you need a traffic school, I highly recomment GoToTrafficSchool.com. It only costs about $14.00, and you can get a discount with this code at checkout X3A-KE6-DD4. It is really easy, it keeps track of how long you are on. You need 6 hours. It is WAY better to be home and doing it, rather than being in a class. Good luck!

Which court deals with traffic court family courts juvenile courts?

I'm assuming you're asking which court would deal with a juvenile traffic tickets. Generally this would be a regular traffic court, unless it rose to a certain level of crime. Then either a family court or a juvenile court would hear the case, depending on location. If you want to find out more about your specific location (county, state), check out Court Reference. You can find links to local court reference information from there.

If you receive a speeding ticket in another state and you wish to attend online traffic school should you attend the school for your home state or the state in which you received the ticket?

Well, first call the Department of Motor Vehicles in the state in which you have your license to see if they will accept the online traffic school to get rid of points. I was pulled over in Florida and I am originally from Michigan, with a Michigan driver's license. Michigan will not accept Florida's online driving school to wipe away any points. The points were transferred anyways.

What happens if you don't pay traffic tickets in NJ?

IF you don't pay your traffic tickets by your court date, the residing judge will issue a bench warrant for your arrest. After a few days, this will be forwarded to the Department of Motor Vehicles and your drivers license will be suspended. Either way, the next time you go through a road block or are stopped for a ticket, you will be arrested, handcuffed, and locked up until the jurisdiction sends someone to pick you up for court. I would definitely pay the tickets.

Traffic school do you have to go to court?

After you got your ticket, the court should have sent you paperwork letting you know how much your ticket is and how much additional it would be to attend traffic school. If you've received that paperwork, and if you are eligible to take traffc school, you can go ahead and start taking your traffic school course. The court should also send you lists of traffic schools that you can attend. Online traffic schools are by far the cheapest and easiest way to take care of that point on your record.

What traffic schools are best to attend?

One has many options when it comes to traffic school. Depending on the state, one could attend class on trafficschool.com, an online traffic school that is usually cheaper than attending a real traffic school. Before doing that, one must make sure that your state accepts that. If the court orders you attend an on site traffic school, you could ask the court which one they would recommend or even look in your local yellow pages for more options. There is no national traffic school that is considered the best. It is best if one searched around locally to determine which one would be the most cost effective.

How much would a ticket for 11 mph over the speed limit cost in Sacramento California?

California Speeding Ticket Usually you will receive a courtesy notice from the court in about two to three weeks. It will tell you the fine and if you are eligible for traffic school. Usually the traffic school is your best option since this keeps the ticket off your record and avoids an insurance rate hike. If you plead not guilty you lose the possibility of traffic school. Most CA jurisdictions now accept online traffic school. You can check for your court at Online Traffic School
