In general, first you will get to speak to the prosecutor to see if you can or wish to enter into a plea bargain and plead guilty to a lesser offense. Many traffic offense are disposed of this way. If you were charged with going 50 miles over the speed limit, you might be able to downgrade the charge to speeding only 25 miles over the limit. If you were charged with reckless driving, you may be able to plead guilty to careless driving. Reductions in the seriousness of the offense will result in a lower fine and fewer points charged to your driving record.
If you cannot come to an agreement, you will proceed to trial on the offense. If you have witnesses to support your defense, be sure to bring them with you to court. If the court proceeds to trial on that day, you might not be allowed an adjournment in order to bring them in on some other day. Letters from witnesses will not be accepted as evidence at a trial.

∙ 13y agoIf you get stopped by the police and they find you have an outstanding traffic warrant they could arrest you.
You should go to the court and pay the fines to clear up the warrant.
Added: Some additional food for thought - if the warrant is for an un-answered traffic charge the DMV could (and probably will) suspend your drivers license until the matter is taken care of.

∙ 11y agoI wouldn't take a chance. You are given a date in which you must complete traffic school before that date. If worst comes to worst (This happened to me) and you procrasinate, you could ask for an extention. This will give you another week or two.
