You Black out with generally very little alcohol consumption

Agreed but this is a very general answer. If you take a 5mg and drink a beer you probably won't notice it depending on your tolerance. If you take a 20mg and drink a 12 pack you will black out like you have never blacked out before. It's all in terms of perspective.

Drinking alcohol when taking Xanax should be done very carefully . . . have a glass of wine, have a beer, but not hard liquor.

The reason is that alcohol will unpredictably boost the effects of the Xanax, and an overdose can happen with little warning and lead to death.
Although some people do it and get away with it, alcohol should never be mixed with benzodiazepines or any other depressant drug. The folks who didn't get away with it have died, had seizures, and had medical procedures disrupted because doctors didn't know about it ahead of time. One lucky girl just collapsed, and was in a coma for ten years before she finally died. Karen Quinlan...look it up.

Taking Xanax with alcohol *will* increase the effects and side effects of the Xanax. It is highly recommended that you avoid taking both at all times, no exceptions.

Really you’ll just black out, really the risk comes risk comes from what you might do whilst blacked out. One dude killed his mom with a claw hammer.

Taking them together is definitely not recommended.

The severity of any negative side effects depends on the dosage.
