In short though the correct term in the current situation i think you would be looking for the term hydrogen, oxygen fuel cell. it's a fuel cell in general. i would recommend further studying it.

Seriously though, that is what a Fuel Cell is supposed to do - take Hydrogen and Oxygen, but to produce electricity in a controlled manner, not explode.
