The start of the scene is shared between mischievous fairy Puck, King of the fairies Oberon, and his queen Titania. The middle of the scene contains an important moment where two of the young lovers interact as Oberon watches, and serves as a catalyst in the development of his plan to manipulate them.

In A Midsummer Night's Dream, there are three plots unfolding at the same time. As well as a final play within a play. Most of the events happen in the woods. MND focuses very much on the theme of dreams and reality. In the first plot, the King and Queen of the faeries, Oberon and Titania respectively, are having a quarrel over the right to an Indian prince who is currently under Titania's keeping. Unable to come to a solution, Oberon, with the help of his servant Puck, tries to make the proud Titania fall in love with an ugly creature by using a love potion before releasing her from the spell. However, five others are also caught into this fray and many comedic events happen. In the end, everything ends happily with a grand wedding of three couples (Theseus and Hippolyta, Hermia and Lysander, Helena and Demetrius.) The second important group are the four lovers from Athens; Hermia, Lysander, Helena and Demetrius. For these four, the main conflict is the inbalance between their affections, as Demetrius and Lysander woo Hermia, Hermia returns the adoration of Lysander and Helena pursues in vain the attention of Demetrius - who was once her lover before. Hermia's father orders for Hermia to marry Demetrius. Unwilling, Hermia and Lysander flee Into the Woods. Demetrius found out about the two from Helena, who thought she could gain Demetrius' attention from this, and chased after them. Helena also entered the woods after Demetrius. Oberon witness the tangled love web of them all and tells Puck to solve it by using the love potion and making Demetrius fall in love with Helena, thus resolving their conflict. However, Puck mixes the identities of the Athenians and uses the potion on Lysander instead, and later, he tries to correct by putting it on Demetrius too, causing a reverse in the attraction between the four youth. Now, Demetrius and Lysander are after Helena, who firmly believes that the sudden change was because they were mocking her. Hermia, on the other hand, thinks that this is some heinous plot by Helena. Much comedy is generated here. Meanwhile, there is a group of craftsmen who are rehearsing for the play they wish to perform at the wedding of Theseus and Hippolyta. They found a spot in the woods and tries to rehearse. Among them is Bottom, an ignorant but much admired craftsman. Bottom was eventually caught in the squabble between the faeries and was turned into an ass-head by Puck. Oberon, attempting to humiliate Titania, casts a spell on Titania with the love potion and Titania falls in love with the ugly Bottom, hence involving Bottom into the enchanted world. This is also very ironic, as Titania's compliments for Bottom are clearly misplaced and they two are oddly mismatched. However, finally in the end, everything is cleared. Puck restores order by removing the spell on Lysander so that he and Hermia can be together while keeping Demetrius smitten with Helena. Bottom has his head restored back to normal and Titania is lifted from the spell and reconciles with Oberon. The four lovers returns to Athens and are allowed to married. The two couples, together with Theseus and Hippolyta, have a grand wedding. The craftsmen play was chosen to be performed. It was a play that depicts the tragic love story of Pyramus and Thisbe. Bottom plays Pyramus, a man who falls in love with Thisbe, played by Flute. However, due to events stacked against them, Pyramus thought that Thisbe was killed by a lion and he commits suicide. Thisbe, upon seeing her dead lover, follows after him. The play ends happily with Puck, who is in some cases considered a narrator for the play, assuring everyone that although sometimes mistakes can happen, they will be righted in the end. Hope this helps.
