Dustfinger gets read back to his world by a man named Orpheus. Meggie and Farid read themselves into inkheart. Meggie did it to see the ink world, Farid did it to warn Dustfinger that Basta was back in the ink world. Orpheus reads Mortola, Basta, Resa and Mo into the ink world and Mortola shot Mo in the chest. Mo gets cared for by strolling players and robbers but not for long. Meggie finds out her fathers been shot and looks for him. The soldiers of the Castle of Night come for Mo because they think he is a robber called the Bluejay. He's taken prisoner in the castle of night and is still seriously injured. Meggie, Dustfinger and Farid go after them. The soldiers have also taken the strolling players and robbers as prisoners. The Adderhead makes Mo and Meggie bind a book to make him immortal. The Adderhead is born a son and he sets the prisoners free after Mo has bound the book. The Adderhead is now immortal and Mo takes the name Bluejay and becomes a robber. Farid was killed by Basta and Dustfinger exchanges his life for his. Meggie reads Orpheus into the ink world to somehow bring Dustfinger back to life and Farid follows Orpheus as his slave as he waits for Orpheus to write the words that bring Dustfinger back to life.
