The same happens to Christians before they die, as happens to everyone else. The following scriptures tell us to 'work' while we can; while we're still alive. We can 'work'; 'reason'; 'gain knowledge'; and gain 'wisdom' while we're still alive. We can do whatever we 'are capable of doing'. Because at the point of death, all that ceases. There is not even any thoughts, or knowledge, after we die.
Therefore before we die, anything can happen; we can work hard; we can become wise.
Eccl 9:5 , 10:
". . . because the living know that they will die. But the dead know nothing at all. There is no more reward for them . . . Whatever you are capable of doing, do with all your might, because there's no work, thought, knowledge, or wisdom in the grave, which is where you are headed. (CEB)
"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going." (CSV)
"(For they who live at least know that they shall die; but the dead know nothing, nor have any further reward . . .) for neither work, neither reason, nor knowing, nor wisdom, shall be at hells, whither thou hastest." (WYC)

In many Christian denominations, baptism is considered important for salvation, but not necessary for all. Some believe in the concept of "baptism by desire," where a person's intention to receive baptism can be sufficient for salvation even if they die before being baptized. Ultimately, the fate of a person who is saved but not baptized before death is a matter of theological interpretation and varies among different Christian traditions.
