Turns out theCapitol brainwashed him with tracker-jacker venom.He takes place in the war between the districts and Capitol. Back in district twelve after the districts won the war Peeta helps Katniss recover and plants primroses to remember Katniss' little sister,Prim, that President Coin killed. About twenty years later, Peeta and Katniss have to kids.

∙ 12y agoSPOILER- In Catching Fire, he is kidnapped by the Capitol in the arena, and in Mockingjay, the rebels finally get him back. However, he is mentally scarred and wants to kill Katniss, so they have a bumpy relationship till the end, when Peeta and Katniss finally are together, get married, and have 2 kids.

∙ 11y agoI'm pretty sure in the end of chapter 16 [it is never confirmed] Peeta gets his life threatening injure from Cato. Even though she had tracker jacker venom in her she recalls someone screaming. I distinctly remember this from the book: "someone's screaming, it's a long high-piched scream that never breaks for a breath." which made me belive the second time i read it it was Peeta. that might be the end of chapter fifteen, though.

∙ 12y agoKatniss finds Peeta camouflaged into the ground. Peeta was cut by Cato on the upper left leg. Katniss does the best she can to heal him, but it is still infected and dangerous. They both find a cave to stay in for shelter. In the last paragraph of the chapter, Haymitch sends them a pot of broth for Katniss kissing Peeta.
