the embryo is killed
Once stem cells are removed from the embryo, the remaining embryo cannot develop into a fetus because the stem cells are essential for its growth and differentiation. The embryo is typically discarded after the stem cell extraction process.
Adult stem cells are harvested from newborn's cord blood or human bone marrow while embryo stem cells come from the inner cell mass of a human embryo. No fetus is killed to use the stem cells, but the embryo cannot function and must be destroyed without a inner cell mass.
Adult stem cells can be harvested from various tissues in the body, such as bone marrow, adipose tissue, or blood. The process typically involves isolating the stem cells from the tissue through a minimally invasive procedure, such as bone marrow aspiration or apheresis. These harvested stem cells can then be used for various medical treatments or therapies.
The main controversy is whewn stem cells are harvested from aborted fetuses, or when an egg is fertilized in a laboratory for the sole purpose of harvesting stem cells. Stem cells can also be gotten from umbilical cord blood after a baby is born.

Cord blood stem cells come from a newborn's umbilical cord while embryonic stem cells are harvested from a human embryo. Although the procedures involved in harvesting it are totally different. A doctor can immediately removed a newborn's umbilical cord and squeeze out those stem cells. Getting stem cells from the embryo requires to kill a forming fetus inside the womb and this procedure is considered unacceptable.
it is used until it dies or cannot supply any more healthy stem cells, then it is....disposed of. if u get my drift :(
Both of them are effective and can cure life-threatening diseases like leukemia and other forms of cancers. The big difference is there is a need to kill an embryo to harvest its stem cells, which is unacceptable, while adult stem cells can be harvested from a newborn's umbilical cord and bone marrow.

There are more cells found in an embryo than an adult.
you do!

Embryonic stem cells (ES cells) are stem cells derived from the inner cell mass of the blastocyst, an early-stage embryo. In other words, they do not become embryos, they are part of an embryo.
The cells are known as stem cells meaning they can become any cell type. The embryo becomes bigger because certain genes in the DNA are activated allowing the cell to divide or produce certain determination factors that will make a stem cell become a neuron, muscle cell, etc.... The embryo grows in size as the stem cells divide repeatedly and then some of the stem cells become actual specific cells.
