The cotton is picked with a cotton picker machine and put into big cotton trailers. After the field is picked (it takes 3-4 runs through the field to get all the cotton off the bolls) the trailers are hooked up to trucks and the raw cotton is taken to the gin. At the gin the trailers are put under a big vacuum that sucks up the raw, dirty cotton. The cotton is cleaned, seeds removed, and stems, leaves taken out. It is then packed into big bales and stacked up.

Cotton is picked in the early fall months after the cotton plant is killed so the bolls will open. The cotton picker goes through the field several times before all of the cotton is picked. The picked cotton is put into cotton trailers to be transported to the cotton gin. At the gin the cotton is processed and the seeds removed from the dense fibers. After processing it is packed into big bales wrapped with wire and gunny sack. The bales are stacked and taken by truck to be sold.

It goes through a carding machine that lines the fibers up in a single direction. They are then spun into thread, from there to yarn or the appropriate size for weaving.
