Temperature IS the (average) speed of movement of the particles (molecules) that make up an object. The more heat you add to an object, the faster the molecules move (vibrate). There are devices (thermometers) that indirectly measure this speed, and thus report the temperature.

Temperature or heat affects the speed or the distance between the particles because the hotter an object is the more space it will have so the more space between each particle the more faster it will get..... Hope u understand.......

well as it heats up the particles will move alot quicker... u can try if u have a cup of cold water and hot water.. then add 1-4 dropz of food coloring dont mix it or anything. just wait

What happens to the speed of gas when heated?

The speed of the gas particles will increase as they are heated. That is why the pressure in a container increases. The particles are hitting the walls of the container with more force as they are heated.

What happens to the particles of matter during a phase change?

The particles change mean speed and concentration.

What happens when gas particles are increased in speed?

Gas particles are given more kinetic energy when they are heated, causing them to increase in speed. they move faster and collide more frequently.

When a substance is heated its temperature increases. What happens to the energy of its particles?

The energy of its particles increases, so as the particles speed up move faster causing its heating up.

What happens to a particle in a liquid when heated?

The Particles Vibrate , Causing the liquid to evaporate leaving behind a gas. ! Sophie :)

What happens to particles when water is heated?

when water is heated the particles speed up, therefore gaining kinetic energy. the faster the particles move the further apart they become, therefore leading to the possibility of changing state. such as water to water vapor or ice to water.

Do gas particles speed up or slow down when heated?

They speed up.

What happens when a liquid is heated-?

The kinetic energy content increases and the speed of its particles increases.

What happens to the chemical reaction when it gets heated?

It may speed up when heated.

How does that speed of the particles of a gas change when the gas is heated?

When gas is heated then its molecule get energy and start to move faster.

What happens to heat during a change of state?

Heat increases the energy of in matter. This causes the movement of the particles making up the matter to speed up. The changes of state occur depending on the speed of the particles.

What does the particle theory suggest about the motion of the particles of solids-liquids and gases when they are heated?

When a solid, liquid or gas is heated the particles in the substance speed up and gets less dense. The particles also spreads out.
