To answer this question, we must consider the gas law: PV=nRT.

This is an equation of state, so it defines relationships between pressure (P), volume (v), the number of moles in a system (n), the gas constant (R) and temperature (T). Because it is an equation of state, you cannot talk about transformations, only states in certain moments. What you can do, however, is solve the equation for nR, which is conserved.

nR = PV/T

If you hold nR constant, such as you are doing when compressing or expanding gas in a cylinder, you can say that P1V1/T1 = nR = P2V2/T2.

Considering this, what would happen to P2 if you decreased P1? To balance the equation, V would have to go down.

So if you decrease the pressure of a cylinder, but hold temperature constant, the volume would have to decrease as well.

Assuming your cylinder is fixed and has something like a piston allowing for potential movement, the volume will remain the same. The gas will become less densed, as with pressure its more dense.

What happens to the volume of a gas inside a cylinder the temperature does not change but the pressure is reduced?

What happens to an empty plastic bottle when you put it in the freezer?

It should get pushed in slightly as the molecules are moving slower therefore the pressure inside is reduced

What happens to the pressure inside of a balloon as it floats higher and higher?

The atmospheric pressure go on falling. So the pressure in the balloon. It takes lot of height to get the pressure reduced. I mean, the reduction in the pressure can not be easily measured for short height.

What happens when you put an plastic bottle in the freezer over night?

What will happen to the pressure inside the container if the volume of a container of gas is reduced?

The pressure inside the container will increase. Pressure (P) is force(F) divided by the area(A) it hits on. If you decrease the area, you increase the pressure.

It decreases.

What happens when presuure inside a cathode ray tube is very very low?

C.R.T. are built to to have near vacuum so electrons can easily flow. as pressure increases this capability is reduced accordingly

What would change the size of a balloon?

Increased pressure on the inside, or decreased pressure on the outside.

What happens to a balloon after a cool change?

The drop in temperature will cause the atoms (or air) inside the balloon to fall in energy levels, this will result in the pressure inside the balloon dropping, and may cause the balloon to loose its shape.
