Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Remove the giblets from the cavity if using a whole chicken. Rinse the chicken under cool water. Pat it dry with paper towels and season the chicken (inside and out, if whole) with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Place the chicken in a roasting pan or a large oven-proof skillet, skin-side up. Rub with olive oil or pour a marinade over the chicken if desired (see the Related eHows).

Bake, uncovered for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until the skin is golden brown and the meat is cooked through.

Use an instant-read meat thermometer to check the chicken near the end of cooking. When the internal temperature reaches 170 degrees for breast meat, 180 for thighs (measured in the thickest part), the chicken is done.

Test for doneness without a thermometer by cutting into the deepest part of the thigh. If the meat is no longer pink and juices run clear, it's done.

Let a whole chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving

First you buy a pack of chicken, any kind whatever you like. Then season it with any thing you like ( bread crumbs, Dry rub, anything). Then you put it in the oven and cook it at 350. Then take it out and cut it and make sure it is done. ( cook about 40 minutes) And now you can serve it if it is done.

When you bake a bone, once all the meat is off of it, it looses collagen and becomes very inflexable. Therefore it will snap in half easier because it does not have to collagen to help it bounce back into place.

Before you begin, first prepare the oven and preheat it to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 5 to 10 minutes. In the mean time take some cool water and start washing the chicken. Take the giblets away from the chicken if you are dealing with a whole one. Once done, take a paper towel and dry it off. Next get some butter and place it in a cup and put it inside the microwave and wait for it to melt. Pour at least 2/3 of the liquid butter over the whole chicken and pour the remaining butter. Now, season the inner part of the chicken with onion powder, salt and pepper. Place the roasting pan inside the oven and start baking the dish for about 1.5 hours. Stick the meat thermometer right onto the breast part in order to check the internal temperature of the chicken. If it reads 180 degrees, then it is done. Once its done, take it out and give it about 15 minutes to cool off. Then you can start cutting it to smaller pieces and serve with anything else you got and start enjoying.

depends on how you are baking it. if you want to keep it moist, then it would be good to keep it covered at least part of the time

If you don't want it to dry out, yes.

Some olive oil on top, and uncovered to brown the last 10-15 minutes.
