∙ 12y agoWhen two Continental plates come together, the two plates buldge together and build up mountains over a long period of time. When a continental plate comes in contact with an oceanic plate, the oceanic plate is more dense and therefore sinks underneath the continental plate. Once the plate as reached about 100Km down under the earths surface, it begins to melt. The melt then begins to rise, forming a volcano, or an volcanic arc. This is a subduction zone.
