The light from the sun, which is made up of equal parts of red, green and blue (even though it may not look it), will be reflected off of the white surface, staying white as the white surface reflects equal parts of red, green and blue.

When white light shines on a white object, the object appears white. This may sound silly, but let's look at what happens.

White light contains all colors of light. A white object will reflect all colors of light. If white light shines on a white object, that object will reflect all the colors of light in the white light and appear white.
