The phenomenon is called diffusion. Particles will spread from highest concentration to lowest concentration in an effort to even out the number of particles in any one area. This is an important concept in human physiology. It is by diffusion that oxygen enters the blood, and ultimately the cell, and carbon dioxide is returned from the body into the air.

It turns the water slightly blue. The result is not much different from a drop of ink in cold water apart from a faster rate of diffusion:)

When ink spreads in water without stirring, it all has to do with Brownian motion (vibration of molecules) which provides the energy for diffusion

Why is the ink drop spread into the beaker of water?

The molecules in the drop of ink will diffuse through the entire beaker of water. This will result in a homogeneous solution because of diffusion. This will only happen if the ink is of similar density to water.

Ink from an ordinary fountain pen spreads if water is spilled on pagewritten on paper does not spread when water is spilled on it?

Are you asking why ink spreads and paper doesn't when water is spilled on a page? Ink is water soluble so it dissolves and spreads. Paper is not water soluble (although it will get soggy) so it doesn't dissolve.

What will happen if red ink is mixed with water and heated?

If red ink is mixed with water and heated, the ink will begin to dissolve in the water. The heat will increase the rate at which the ink molecules separate and mix with the water molecules. Eventually, the ink will completely disperse in the water, resulting in a colored solution.

What is an experiment you can do to show ink water is not pure water?

Why drop of ink can spread in a beaker without stirring?

This is called diffusion. If you just leave the ink in the beaker for a while, it will eventually spread out around the beaker and all of the water will have color. For example: This is just like a restaurant, there is non-smoking half of the restaurant and there is a smoking half. The smoke will eventually spread out front he smoking corner to the non-smoking corner. Another example: If you pee in the pool, the pee will eventually spread out through the pool.

Why does not ink dissolve in salt water?

That depends on the type of ink, but it's most likely that ink is a type of oil that is not dissolve in water
