Combustion, more commonly called "burning," is a chemical reaction between a substance and oxygen. When hydrogen burns, it reacts with oxygen according to the following chemical equation:

2H2(g) + O2(g) → 2H2O(l)

This tells us that two molecules of diatomic hydrogen gas react with one molecule of diatomic oxygen gas to form two molecules of liquid water. However, because this reaction also generates a large amount of heat, much of the water formed may actually be in the gaseous phase, and hence come off of the reaction as steam rather than liquid water.

What happens to your body if you dont have hydrogen?

Hydrogen is an essential element for human health as it is a component of water and plays a role in biochemical reactions in the body. Without hydrogen, your body would not be able to produce energy, transport nutrients, or maintain the proper pH balance necessary for survival.

What is the role of hydrogen in living organisms?

Hydrogen is a key component of molecules like water and organic compounds in living organisms. It is involved in many biological processes, such as providing structure to molecules, serving as a source of energy in metabolic reactions, and participating in maintaining the pH balance within cells.

What is hydrogen's role in the human body?

Hydrogen is the component of water; also all organic compounds contain hydrogen.

Which of the following intermolecular forces plays a pivotal role in biological molecules such as proteins and DNA?

Hydrogen bonding is the intermolecular force that plays a pivotal role in biological molecules such as proteins and DNA. Hydrogen bonds are formed between hydrogen and electronegative atoms such as oxygen or nitrogen, influencing the structure and function of these important biomolecules.

What is the most important role of hydrogen bonding between molecules?

Hydrogen bonding enables water molecules to bond to each other.
