It's hard to tell and therefore dangerous. Let me be very direct. If you choose to use intoxicants of any particular type on yourself, that's an informed decision. You can tell when it's unpleasant or awful... or fun. You can read about possible permanent damage. And you can stop or even counteract whenever you want. You're performing neurochemical experiments on yourself, but presumably you're an adult past the age of concent. If it's illegal - it's your informed choice to risk arrest or conviction - -or not. Animals on the other hand don't react exactly as humans do to intoxicants, and some that are safe for humans can be deadly for animals. They're lots smaller than humans so, unless you're a physics and pharmocology whiz, you won't even give them the equivalnt of a human dose (and how would you feel if someone made you smoke 4 ounces of really good pot at one sitting?). Most importantly, as you don't speak cat, you have no idea whatsoever how your animal feels when you do this. I've you've gotten stoned enough times, eventually you have a bad experience. Imagine not knowing what's happening to you, that huge dose I mentioned before, and perhaps a physiological difference that makes things even worse. Drugs are illegal -- that's between you and the courts, police and your liver, but it's your informed decision to make, right or wrong. I'm not going to sing you a song about morality and the things you choose to do with yourself consensually. However, when you force this on an animal who doesn't know what's happening and doesnt have the option to concent or the ability to choose, you're doing the wrong thing.
The stoned ape mushrooms hypothesis, proposed by Terence McKenna, suggests that human evolution may have been influenced by the consumption of psychedelic mushrooms by early humans. This theory is not widely accepted in the scientific community and is considered controversial.
Evolution occurs at the population level, where selection happens to populations rather than individuals.
A reason for why something happens is called a "cause." It refers to the factor or circumstance that leads to a particular effect or outcome.
