The sun, originally, but the sun actually heats the earth, and warm air rises from the surface of the earth and is trapped by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This is mostly how the air gets warm.

During the day the sun heats the earth's surface, which in turn heats the air. These warm air currents can then move into other areas.

Suns radiation heats up the troposphere that radiates heat from the ground level to heat up the atmosphere enclosed in a carbon blanket with greenhouse effect to heat the atmosphere.

several ways i.e. convection, conduction etc., but in general the air molecules are accelerated by high energy "heat" and they move more quickly.

How do Gas Fireplaces work to heat homes?

In additional to radiating heat into the room many gas fireplaces have a heat exchanger- cool air is drawn into the shell around the firebox, and warmed air comes out of the vents at the top.

How do convection uplift occurs?

A parcel of air is uplifted when it initially gains heat from the surface causing convective uplift. When the air is warmed by the surface it will expand and become less dense relative to air that surrounds it. - See more at: http://www.chacha.com/question/can-you-briefly-describe-how-convective-uplift-occurs#sthash.JinBHwPh.dpuf

Water from a natural hot spring is warmed by what inside the earth?

It is warmed by geothermal energy which is created by RADIOACTIVE DECAY http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geothermal_(geology)

What is Convectional Precipitation?

Convectional rainfall occurs as a result of one of the three mechanisms that produce rain. When a fluid, such as air, is warmed from the bottom, for instance by earth warmed by sunlight, the lighter air rises drawing cooler air in underneath it. This sets up a so-called convectional flow. If the air near the ground is moist then when the it rises it will form clouds whose droplets coalesce to form convectional rain.

How does air conditioning alter the relative humidity of a room?

Air conditioners use a process called refrigeration, and take advantage of the physical principal in which converstion of air(a gas) to liquid (water), heat is absorbed. Air conditioners use this law by using metal coils filled with refrigerants (chemicals with cooling properties) and fans to blow air across the coils repeatedly, to cause evaporation and condensation of the moisture in the air. The refrigerant absorbs the heat that is produced, and high pressure within the coils is used to pump the warmed coolant and dispose of the excess heat that is produced. The system will have to run at a certain level of efficiency to be effective at cooling the interior air. Overall this process causes the interior air to become cooler, and releases water as a byproduct, therefore reducing the humidity of air in a room.
