What was the attitude of the Roman Catholic Church to the ideas and art of the Renaissance?

Answer from a CatholicI don't think that the Catholic Church has a defined opinion about the ideas and art of the Renaissance as such. The Renaissance, as a whole, spelled the death of the great Christian Middle Ages and put way too much emphasis on man and not enough emphasis on God.
