your xbox might be set to display 1080p and that's why it doesn't display on your 720 TVs

You can run your cable to you DVD/VCR as to have everything hooked up and be able to record if you like from you cable - it is just easier to have everything hooked up. It doesn't have to be on when you are not using it as there are buttons for TV/VCR/DVD etc.

turn on the secondary monitor. control panel -> display -> settings -> click on the one that's greyed out and select the check mark next to extend my windows desktop to this monitor
