this is exactly what is currently happening to me I falsely been accused by now ex with assault and assault with weapon , I did everything you could think of including but not limited to hiring the best lawyer in town which I was in a meeting with earlier today to tell me sorry dude can do nothing more than trying ,you could end up in jail for 2 years in convicted , what a system ?!! once convicted , I will be losing my job , losing the opportunity of finding a job , get deported , and layer fees of more than 20K so far , that what could happen to answer your question.
one advice to male kind , you wanted to break up with your wife or girl friend , get the hell as far as you can , have your self surrounded with witness and have text messages never deleted and then breakup other than that you would face similar situation just because you are a man and you are expected to assault.
