I had to place a small piece of foam between the brake pedal shaft and the cruise control switch. The brake pedal shaft did not "push in" the cruise control switch far enough to let it work. I have had no more problems.
Cruise will NOT work if the speedometer has a problem
If the odometer stopped working and the speedometer and cruise control still work, you have a bad odometer. It is part of the speedometer assembly so the whole thing will have to be replaced.
The speedometer is not working. When the speedometer gets to 65 mph I set the cruise control.
Yes, it can cause the cruise to surge.
Your speed sensor probably broke and needs to be replaced. If the car can't determine it's speed, then it may automatically disable the cruise control.
I think you are seeing the cruise control light.
on the end of the turn signal lever
Are you sure you need the fuse for the cruise control. My cruise control wasn't working, neither were my brake lights. All 7 bulbs were burnt out. When the brake lights were replaced the cruise control worked.
Your speedometer, odometer, and cruise control quits working; That's all. It happened to me when I replaced the transmission on my Altima and the two wires came out of the connector.
I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 with the 5.2 v8. The cruise control fuse for mine was located in the steering column. Its an in-line fuse.
what exactly is wrong?
one end is going to be of course besind the spedo gauge in your cluster and the other end will be ithe in you transaxle orif you have cruise control it will be at the cruise control transducer.
The cruise is fed by the engine computer. If the engine starts and runs, it is not a blown fuse.
The cruise control is powered by the engine computer. There isn't a separate fuse. If the engine runs, it is not a fuse issue.
I had the same problem...the alternator went bad. Both the alternator and battery had to be replaced.
haven't got a answer yet
Did you happen to take your vehicle a few years ago to a Ford dealership for a recall? Did they replace a jumper wire to the cruise control?
The cruise control is fed by the engine computer through the brake light switch. It does not have a separate fuse.If the engine runs and the brake lights work, it is not a fuse.
It sounds like a problem with the electrical system. I would check the belts, alternator, and battery. If none of those were the problem, I would take it to the dealer for repair.
It depends on the year and options. Which year model are you asking about? On the 1996-2000 cluster, there's a light between the tach and speedometer for the cruise control (if equipped).
does any one know where the speed sensor is located on a 1998 for station wagon my cruise control and speedometer quit working PLEASE HELP does any one know where the speed sensor is located on a 1998 for station wagon my cruise control and speedometer quit working PLEASE HELP I think it is on one of the wheels--not sure which one. It may be one of the front wheels, as I had one replaced a few years ago.
A clockspring controls the air bag, cruise control and the horn. I had mine replaced. On a Grand Caravan Dodge.
The speed sensor on the trans.
It tells the computer how fast you're going. The data it produces is used by the speedometer and the cruise control system.
