Candy (other than chocolate) will not hurt a puppy unless it was a large amount. The candy will be processed through the puppy's digestive system like any other food. Chocolate, however, can and often is poisonous to a dog and the puppy should be seen by a vet for possible effects of any ingested chocolate. Candy should never be deliberately given to dogs because of its high sugar content.
